2 series

The Optical Sensor 2 series is classified as a Universal, micro switching sensor within the optical sensors product range. This sensor is categorized as a photoelectric sensor and/or diffuse sensor with a cubic housing.

Technical Specifications

  • Design and Size: It has compact dimensions of 8 mm (W) x 23.1 mm (H) x 12 mm (D).
  • Supply Voltage (UB): It operates on 10 to 30 V, DC power.
  • Outputs and Connections: It features transistor switching outputs and offers connection types including cable, cable with M8 connector, or cable with M12 connector.
  • Robustness: The housing is made of plastic and provides a degree of protection of IP 67.
  • Operating Temperature: It is designed for operation in an ambient temperature range of -30 °C to 55 °C.

Operating Principles and Performance

The 2 series is available in several photoelectric configurations:

  1. Throughbeam Photoelectric Sensor:

    • Minimum/maximum operating range limit: 0 m to 2 m.
    • Light source: Red LED.
    • Switching frequency: 385 Hz.
  2. Retro-reflective Photoelectric Sensor:

    • Minimum/maximum operating range limit: 0.07 m to 4 m.
    • Light source: Red LED.
    • Switching frequency: 700 Hz.
    • Operational controls: 270° potentiometer.
  3. Energetic Diffuse Sensor:

    • Minimum/maximum operating range limit: 0 m to 0.7 m.
    • Light source: Red LED.
    • Switching frequency: 500 Hz.
    • Operational controls: Multiturn potentiometer.
  4. Diffuse Sensor with Background Suppression:

    • Minimum/maximum operating range limit: 0.001 m to 0.06 m.
    • Light source: Red LED.
    • Switching frequency: 700 Hz.
    • Operational controls: Multiturn potentiometer.

The 2 series also supports the "Small light spot (S)" function.
